Dropped by Callaway K-Mart, spoke to Betty, and received replacement pair of boots.

Footstar Update

Got a call from Callaway Walmart’s “Betty” on Friday morning while on my way out of town for family visit… and she offered to take a look at the boot in question on Tuesday, Dec 26th.  I told her I’d be there.

After returning home from visiting family, found I’d received the following email from Carol, at Footstar:

Please see Betty the shoemart manager at the store location you provided;she will be glad to help with an exchange.

This is the initial Email I received from Footstar:

Gene,

Thank you for your email I am sorry to learn of the problems you have had with our product.

I will contact the store in which you purchased the Thom McAn boots and work to refund the pair that is defective. Can you please provide a store location in which you made the purchase, city and state. 

I will also advise our buying team of your issues with our product.

My Response to Carol Sliker’s email:

I’d much rather have a pair of these boots that stayed together so I could wear them out… rather than a refund… A replacement pair would be fine with me… and I’d give them a go…

Thom McAn Boot Problem (Footstar)

I sent the following correspondence to Footstar Customer Service:

Thom McAn BootI purchased a pair of Thom McAn leather boots (#84605, size
8W) about 2 years ago… Within about six months, the sole of one of my boots started to detach… finally becoming some 60-70% detached from the heel area forward.  I used a high tech glue to help fix the situation but that didn’t last too long.

I figured it was a one-off occurrance.  I went back to K-Mart to purchase a replacement pair because they were very comfortable and met all my day-to-day footwear needs.

Well… I was disappointed to find that none of my three local K-Marts had any of this style boots.

I ended up purchasing a pair of Georgia Boots… but as soon as I found the Thom McAn boots in stock again… I purchased two pair… One to wear immediately and one as a spare for later on, should I find them in scarce supply again.

Well… here I am, three months into my new pair of boots and once again, the sole of my right boot has become detached (approx 30%) in the heel area - exactly what happened to my 1st pair.

So I’m wondering why this is happening… how can I fix this, how can I keep it from reoccuring on this pair or occuring at all on my spare, unused pair… and what KMart thinks should be done…
